Privacy Policy

Strange Normal is a podcast of Orion Media Ministry. This policy says what this site collects, why, and what you can do about it. It is short because the site collects little.
Information we collect
Only what you type in and send:
- The contact form: your name, your email address, your message, and whether you ticked the consent box. The server also records the time, the page you wrote from, your IP address and your browser's description of itself, which is how automated spam is told apart from people.
- Email you send us directly: whatever the message contains.
- The newsletter sign-up: your email address, your name if you give one, and the fact that you ticked the box. No newsletter is going out yet, so for now the address simply sits on a list waiting for one.
There is nothing to sign in to. We do not build a profile of you, we do not buy information about you from anyone, and we do not sell or rent anything about you to anyone.
How we use it
To read your message and reply to it, and to keep a record of correspondence so a conversation can be picked up where it left off. Contact messages are stored on our own server rather than with a third party.
Where a question is useful to other listeners it may be answered on the show, without your name and without your email address, unless you ask us to use your name.
An address left on the newsletter sign-up is used for one thing: to write to you when there is a newsletter. It is not used to contact you about anything else, and it is never passed to anyone. Every issue will carry a one click unsubscribe link, and you can ask to be taken off at any time before then.
Third-party services
Donorbox handles donations and Spreadshop handles merchandise orders, so anything you enter on those runs through them rather than through us. Videos are hosted on YouTube. Statcounter counts visits, but only if you allow it, as described under Cookies below. Each of these has its own privacy policy.
Cookies
This site sets no cookie of its own. There is nothing to sign in to and nothing to keep track of between pages.
Videos are click-to-load, which means YouTube is sent nothing at all until you actually press play on one. That is deliberate: an ordinary embedded player contacts YouTube the moment a page opens, whether or not anybody watches.
There is one cookie from Statcounter, a visitor statistics service, and it is set only if you allow it. We ask once, in a small box at the bottom of the page, and if you say no thanks then nothing is set and we do not ask again. It records the page visited, roughly where in the world the visit came from, and whether you have been here before. It is not linked to your name or your email address, and saying no changes nothing about the site.
Our own social media accounts
We publish clips from our episodes to accounts we own on YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, Threads and X. We use our own software to do it, and that software connects only to our own accounts, using sign-ins we grant it ourselves.
What that software holds is our own: the sign-in tokens for our accounts, kept encrypted on our server, and the public counts each platform reports back for our own posts, such as views, likes, comments and shares. It does not read, collect or store anything about the people who watch those clips. It cannot see who you are, it does not receive your messages or comments, and it holds no list of viewers or followers.
When a sign-in is removed, our copy of it is deleted. Anyone who needs that confirmed, or who wants a deletion request handled, can write to bradley@orionmedia.tv, and the request is carried out and confirmed in writing.
Anything you do on those platforms themselves, including following, liking and commenting, is between you and the platform, under its own privacy policy.
How long we keep things
Contact messages are kept while they are useful and deleted on request. A newsletter address is kept until you ask for it to go, or until you unsubscribe, after which it is kept only as a note not to write to you again. The counts we hold for our own posts are kept for as long as they are useful for deciding what to publish next.
Your choices
Write to bradley@orionmedia.tv and ask for a copy of what we hold about you, a correction, or its deletion, and it will be done. You do not have to give a reason. Statcounter can be refused when the box appears, and clearing your browser's site data for this site removes that choice so you can make it again.
Children
This site is not aimed at children, and we do not knowingly collect anything from a child. If you believe a child has sent us something, write to us and it will be deleted.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it.
